Summary: A great novel about the affects of a high-spirited girl.
Comment: We have all read books that have touched us in some way. You can really relate yourself to the book and understand what is happening to the characters. L.M. Montgomery's novel Anne of Green Gables is a book the touched me.
The novel begins when Anne Shirley, a talkative redhead is eleven years old. She is an orphan living with a family who has decided to send her back to the orphanage. Not long after Anne had arrived at the orphanage was she told that they had found another place for her to live. Anne would live with the Cuthberts on their farm.
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are a brother and sister who own a farm called Green Gables on Prince Edward Island. They were both getting older and Matthew needed some help on the farm. They talked to a woman in town and she was going to help them adopt a strong young man to help them. Mistakenly Anne was sent to them. Before they had a chance to send her back, she had won not only their hearts but those of everyone else on Prince Edward Island.
Anne's presence at Green Gables affected everyone. She went from being a jaunty little girl to a well loved young woman helping others along the way. Anne made friends with as many people as she could and did her best to assist others in any way possible.
Anne of Green Gables was an amazing book that taught me many lessons about friendship and kindness. I am very glad that I was able to read it and hope that many others will do the same.

Summary: This book should be read by everyone, young and old.
Comment: Anne of Green Gables was a book selection on a my son's list of required summer reading. Since I knew my 12 yr old son would never chose a book whose main character was a girl, I told him that it was required reading. My son read the book and found it entertaining ( I caught him laughing aloud a few times). He thought it was a little predictable, because in almost chapter Anne got in trouble, and someone else "had to clean up the mess." I decided to read the book too. I just finished it a few days ago, and it is now one of my favorite books! The descriptions of Green Gables, and the country side are so beautiful, and Anne's love of nature and life itself are contagious. I think many females must see something of themselves it that red headed girl. Is it her desire to be accepted, her love of nature and beauty, her melodrama, her bad temper, her vivid imagination, her stubborness, her honesty, her love of competion, her intellegence, or her nobility? We can find these qualities, and faults in ourselves and in so many women we know. We see our selves in the 9 year old orphan girl, whether we are 8, 10, 30, or going on 50.

Summary: A favorite of mine
Comment: Anne Shirley will always have a special place in my heart as one of my favorite literary characters. The reread delighted as much this time as the first time I read the book.
