Summary: Excellent reference
Comment: This book is an excellent resource for anyone creating their own ceremony. It contains transcripts of an astounding array of wedding ceremonies, from a wide variety of cultures and religions. A very nice way to see how many others have broken out of the confines of the same, tired old wedding ceremony and encourages you to find what is meaningful to YOU. We chose different ideas from various ceremonies that resonated for us; it was a great help in writing our own wedding ceremony and vows.

Comment: This book contains a lot of useful information about the practicalities of a wedding ceremony and many alternatives to a traditional Christian ceremony. The ceremonies in this book range from the very spiritual to simple, but meaningful. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to create a personalized wedding ceremony.

Summary: Helpful, but Chock full of Errors
Comment: While the general idea of this book was invaluable - I used it to help plan my own "alternative" wedding - the number of obvious errors in the book became a bit tedious after a while.
For example, in Chapter 3, when listing songs, poems and passages to use in one's ceremony, the author incorrectly lists an Edgar Allen Poe poem and she gives credit to the wrong Rosetti for writing "Sudden Light" among other errors. She also refers to the Convocation or Introduction as the "Charge to Convocation" when it should actually be the "Charge to the Congregation". Also, when referring to various passages in the Bible, some of them are incorrectly refrenced as well. I could go on...
At any rate, if you can get past all of the things that are incorrect in this book, there are some very helpful concepts.
