Comment: BRING BACK BARKLEY is the 3rd book in my series about Barkley. When I got ready to write it, I decided I wanted the dog to have some crazy adventures with a bird. At first I thought a parrot might be fun because it could talk. But a parrot would be too heavy to land on Barkley's head. Then I thought about a parakeet. But a parakeet would be too small to cause much trouble. When I decided to use a cockatiel, I discovered that my editor owned one of these birds. She was a great help in making the bird become real.
