Summary: Objectives met, but little more
Comment: I couldn't really decide whether to give this booklet 4 or 5 stars. If the objective of the book was simply to bring the different epistemological issues and positions near to the novice reader, then it certainly should get 5 stars, for it did that very well. In three conversations, several bright young students interested in epistemology debate what we can know and how so. Topics discussed are skepticism/certainty, internalism/externalism, foundationalism/coherentism, and the nature and limits of justification.

To its disadvantage, the book is a bit short and leaves the reader with no real conclusions. The debate is left open, though that is perhaps a good thing because it seems that the academic debate on these epistemological issues is still open as well. However, I had hoped that Jay Rosenberg could provide us with some insight as to how we can solve the dilemma between the fact that we DO know things and yet at times seem unable to explain just HOW we know things or even to demonstrate THAT we know things.

So, again, the booklet has fulfilled its objective of introducing the uninitiated reader into the issues of contemporary epistemology. More than that, however, is not found in this booklet.
