You are better served learning katakana with books like Kanji Pictographix by Michael Rowley or Jimi's Book of Japanese (Hiragana) or Jimi's Book of Japanese(Katakana) by Peter X. Takahashi. Both present a modernized approach to teaching both hiragana and katakana syllable sets. Not to mention they are both memorable and entertaining books. Get both today.

Summary: Its a good help
Comment: If your serious about learning Japanese writing then this book is a good follow up to "Lets Learn Hiragana" (which you should know by heart before you start Katakana). Just like the other reviewers have said..its not perfect (but what is in this world?) but if you keep studying hard and regularly you CAN learn how to read and write it after a while..Im not the brightest spark in the world so it took me a few months to learn both Hiragana and Katakana by practicing everyday..it helps a little if you live in Japan too like me cuz you can practice on menus and ads! So what have you got to lose by buying this book huh? Just a few bucks! So get it and start studying!
PS: In addition to the Hiragana book and this book...get a few blank sheets of paper and write the entire tables a few times to get warmed up everytime before using the book..its good practice to memorise the stroke order. O Mitsukete ne!
