Rating: 5
Summary: Blues hits Gold
Comment: Despite a slow beginning, this chilling tale of courage and loyalty grasps the reader and urges them to read further into the complex plot. Though the gangsters were slightly stereotypical, they still were believable and convincing, therefore not altering the book much. The characters were all well portrayed and the protagonist is brimming with courage and determination, much admired the readers. Historically, it was fairly accurate, what with the immigration from Ireland to Ellis Island and Prohibition. But, there was more slightly Irish History than American History. With Wash-Basin Street Blues: Nora in New York, Mark O'Sullivan took a complicated story and weaved it into a marvelous novel that any book-lover should add to their collection.
