Summary: Who needs Spinal Tap?
Comment: I picked up this book in Edinburgh during a vacation. I only picked it for two reasons (I'm an aspiring musician and it was discounted from I think 10 pounds to 4 pounds-great deal!). But now that I've read it, this is one of my favorite books.
Ed Jones was a guitarist-turned-music-journalist when he met a band called the Tansads (a tansad is a baby carriage) and was invited to join them. When he joined (as a bass player, to his surprise), he boarded a roller coaster of lineup changes, poverty, mismanagement, and never getting his songs on the albums. In general, it's a quirky, entertaining story of those who never make it on the cover of MOJO or Rolling Stone (although they were on the cover of a folk music magazine...).
