Summary: The best book to get you speaking German.
Comment: This book comes with cassette tapes that get you actually speaking German (Deutsch). I am an American who has lived in Germany for over a year now. This is the best of its kind, I think it was made in Britian. I want to order it for Mother's Day for Mom, but it seems to take 4-6 weeks to get it, so I will probably send her my copy instead. She is coming to visit for a week in August. This cassette and book set puts the words that you need to travel well in Germany right into your mouth, in conversational context. I am familiar with the excellent (German) in a Week series published in 1989-1993 or so, and this is even a cut above that. This is not a "Ja" = "Yes" tape, it is first learning in context, then "something in German," now how do you respond? They give you time to try, and then provide a good answer. Truly, this earns its name: "Talk German."
