Summary: The Cards. . .Really not as great. . .
Comment: I actually found book 12 to be disappointing.
The characters seem to be a bit more 'hip' to
pop culture/pop .references.

Becka and Scott seem to not be themselves, almost like you
packaged them to sell more books.

I'm no missionary or anything, but don't you think they'd still be
mentally stuck in the missionary field?(as they were in the 1st 10 books) Within days of coming back
from New Mexico it seems even their ISP has changed ! Even their lingo.

I'm about as social as Becka, and even *I* don't care to keep up w/ a lot of pop culture myself. Wouldn't you think missionary-kids be more focused on the Bible and spreading the word, not being so forgiving like they are. They seem TOO LIBERAL. Becka seems to have too much self-esteem. She used to be real and doubt herself. Now she's changed, it seems.

Oh - and how did Mr. Lowry suddenly appear in book 12? Wasn't Scott's school across town or something?
Why would he change schools? If he's a librarian, why would he be a substitute? It just seems forced.
The author should have just brought in a new substitute teacher. Not someone you already knew you might have wanted to keep in the book. Mr. Lowry seems to have done an about-face in the personality department. Even with a headache, he wouldn't turn into a drill-sergeant. In real life, sometimes you see people once , and you never see them again.
Even descriptions of what the characters are doing seems forced. Under-described/over-described. . .

When Scott says "You're a liar Madame Theo. He's not yours." Why is he addressing her? Shouldn't he be address Satan, if she's possessed? The books really seem fake.
Hmmm.. and advertising "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel in the book? I would have rather wanted to seen that maybe in the back of the book under "suggested reading" or "references" but not badly plugged in the book like that !
Seems like cheap advertising to me. Speaking of Philip, he seems to have forgotten he used to be a Christian. Even if he was going to a fortune -teller, wouldn't he kind of be thinking the whole time: "Maybe I should try God again " or something, or even just a passing "Well, the Bible didn't work for me/God left us" during the whole time he go back to Madam Theo's Palace. Not as an afterthought. Not after the fact.
I would have thought Scott and Becka would have talked , at least, to Philip. It's like they're dealing w/ people (Sarina, Laura, Philip) and then dropping them - like, not even talking to them. He'd just talk to Z or something. . . . .

The style of writing doesn't even seem Bill Myers When James Riordan wrote/ghostwrote, what was it....books 7 thru 10, there seemed to be a focus more on the occult, and not many jokes/sarcasm. It was weird to read, but I got used to it. Now we've got Bob DeMoss writing/ghostwriting and it seems he's trying to FORCE Bill Myers' writing style. And if it really is Bill Myers well, his style seems forced.

Books 1-10 were in-your-face, no-apologies Christianity. 11 & 12 seem too shy with Christianity. Too apologetic and timid.

As a Christian, and a writer, I found them to be too weak.
