Summary: Changed my life
Comment: Well perhaps "changed my life" is a bit lofty but when I first read this book some twenty years ago it did create a lasting change in how I hold my beliefs, notions, feelings, etc. I slowly became used to the idea that my current thoughts were driven not by some mysterious separate entity called ME that had special access to the unknown, to the right answers, etc, but by my willy nilly cultural influences. And that I needed to learn a manner of habit in which to examine and alter my filtering system. Quite often a feeling becomes associated with or identified with truth, or rightousness, etc. but a feeling is just a feeling. And we tend to absorb and apply some less than useful formulations that manufacture these feelings. We forget the characteristics left out, the *where* that these notions-feelings came from. I would say the book helped me get into this living thing, whatever it is. Not bad for a ratty old book!

Summary: Timely Commentary!
Comment: Each generation will have a set of problems reflecting their concerns. This book was written around the times of the first "world war",yet to me it seems prevalent to contemporary times. It also suggest that we will always have something to challange our minds.
