Summary: Nonprofit Organization Management Forms, Checklists & Guide
Comment: This is a four-inch ring binder - eleven chapters and an index. It includes enough descriptive information to explain the topic and how to use the relevant forms. This is a great resource - there is a form and explanation for almost any topic or situation you come up against in a given day. There are check lists, definitions, explanations, surveys, handouts, and descriptions. Comprehensive does not begin to cover the richness. And it is all presented in a brisk, efficient manner that is easy to assimilate and review.
Chapters include:
Chapter 1 - The Nonprofit Organization
Chapter 2 -Strategic Planning
Chapter 3 - Personnel Management
Chapter 4 - Employment Law and Compliance Issues
Chapter 5 - Compensation and Benefits
Chapter 6 -Program Management
Chapter 7 - The Nonprofit Board
Chapter 8 -Financial Management
Chapter 9 -Development and Fundraising
Chapter 10 -Marketing
Chapter 11 -Community and Public Relations
As you can see, each chapter is a full subject. I reviewed Strategic Planning, an area of interest. There is complete coverage of the subject; including an assessment survey, information to consider before beginning planning, how to evaluate your organization, policies and procedures to examine, and employee checklists. Then I checked out the chapter on the nonprofit board, a topic I have had to pay a lot of attention to recently. Same thing, comprehensive coverage of many issues; orientation, recruitment, responsibilities, managing the meeting, board evaluations, how to review your executive, and committees. Each area has surveys, checklists, descriptions, and forms that make the task more efficient. The chapters are complete. Each has a table of contents, and the pages are numbered with the chapter number and the page number, as in 3:23. This is a big help when you take out several pages to share or copy, and forget where they came from.
A major benefit is the copyright policy. Although content is copyrighted and may not be reproduced, they do allow for an exception - "An exception to this policy is the reproduction of forms, handouts, policies, or procedures contained herein solely for use within the site-of-purchase facility". This enables you to use the information to the fullest, go to a section, find the information you need, and copy the relevant survey or form. Some might need some adjustments to your situation, but the major effort is done and saves reinventing the wheel every time. Another benefit, there is a system that provides for automatic updates.
A suggestion -check more than one chapter in your search for a specific topic. The great variety of material and completeness of coverage does tend to cause overlap and you might find very useful information in a different chapter than you might imagine. Besides, browsing is fascinating. Get this resource, you will use it often.
