Summary: Jeanne Dobie is a true master!
Comment: Jeanne Dobie is an absolute master of compisition, light and texture, and even though this book focuses ostensibly on color, anyone at any level can benefit from her other chapters as well. I have thrown out so many of my "excess" colors and find that I can accomplish so much with Jeanne's more limited palette.

Rating: 5
Summary: Jeanne. Where's your next book? Making Color Sing rocks!
Comment: I concur with the sentiments of most of the reviews mentioned here. Jeanne Dobie's book is fabulous. Her emphasis on limited pallette and how to make colors 'vibrate', how to make your own neutral (but vibrating) colors, how to create fabulous browns and blacks....invaluable stuff. I'm ready for another book by Jeanne, where she shows more examples of her work and explains how she achieves effects.

Her abstract landscapes are dreamy and beautiful. She's a goddess of watercolor painting.

Rating: 5
Summary: The best book on color I have ever read or owned.
Comment: Jeanne Dobie truly makes color sing. She also makes color theory understandable. Her paintings are beautiful. I have had this book for several years and have gone through it over and over. A real color bible. If I could only have one book in my art instruction library this would be the one.
