Rating: 5
Summary: A Blast From the Past.
Comment: I wasn't born in the 50s or 60s but I remembered about 3/4th's of the shows, commercials, jingles, names and other stuff found in this book. It was a nice little stroll down memory lane and a refreshing blast from the past. That's basically why this book was created: to give readers (and television viewers) a pleasant jaunt down memory lane in television land. You won't find much tv trivia here (though there are a few nuggets scattered throughout the pages), but what you will find are a lot of glossy photos, memorable phrases, and a wave of nostalgia. Great gift for any lover of television or student of popular culture.

Summary: Most of what you remember and some of what you forgot
Comment: I have been working on a history of television for my Popular Culture class and "Do You Remember TV?" does some serious mind jogging on this particular topic. Any book that can give you a Pebbles Pez dispenser, the prologue from "The Outer Limits," all of the guest stars of "The Love Boat" on one page, and a Barbarino Halloween costume is definitely my kind of book. The graphics are in the grand tradition of Marshall McLuhan and Quentin Fiore's "The Medium is the Massage," all intended to make the ghost of Andy Warhol jealous. More than the reminders of long gone TV shows I especially like the catch phrases (what "everybody was saying" once upon a time). The references to popular commercials are also fun as are the looks at some of the television related items you could own (quick now: if you had to buy a record cut by a TV star would you pick the one by Donny Most or the one by Philip-Michael Thomas?). Do you remember what this book shows and tells about TV? If you caught it the first time around, then chances are yes. But if this fun little book goes back farther than your memory then you will just have to puzzle over "The Man From Interpol," Cecily & Gwendolyn Pigeon, and "Thanks! I needed that!" Granted, you might not go through this book a second time, but you should certainly flip through its memories once. You can do a couple of pages during commercial breaks this week.

Summary: A lighthearted, fun-to-look at book
Comment: This is a wonderful little book for anyone who likes TV, or even someone who doesn't. The cute, colorful design includes great pictures and a pop-art feel, and includes random photos and snippets of trivia from "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood," "Gilligan's Island," "All in the Family," and dozens and dozens more. It even includes pages devoted to classic commercials and news broadcasters, and classic news moments. A great, great book for families to look at together and remember.
