Summary: Tres Elegante!!!!
Comment: I am an extremely elegant girl. so naturally I was thrilled to read about elegant food over the years. The book covered 400 years of Fine Dining, which is a very long time. I learned many elegant things from this book which I have already incorporated into my repertoire. Like for instance, did you know that in the Renaissance if you went to a Fine Dining restaurant, they would carve the Dover Sole right at your table the same as they do now? And I bet you didn't know that during the Irish Potato Famine they used to serve Filet Mignon without the bed of truffled mashed potatoes at all Fine Dining establishments. Another bit of Fine Dining history that I bet you didn't know -- during the early days of America the Indians had some Fine Dining restaurants that they wouldn't give the Americans reservations at, so the Americans had to kill them. Pretty far-out stuff!

What I liked most about the book were the pictures. Such elegant ladies and gentlemen doing such elegant things! it made me long for a day when Fine Dining was truly Fine, when you could go out to a restaurant for your birthday or anniversary and get all dressed up and not see people wearing jeans or shorts. This world is just falling apart, and I think that the loss of truly elegant Fine Dining is one of the biggest problems that we face today.

From now on, nobody eats at MY elegant table unless they're dressed in an evening gown or a tuxedo. And you'd better believe that the elegant foods will be flowing and I will provide the best servants to make the dining experiece that much finer. Bon Appetit!!!
