Summary: Wee Folk and Flowers and a Changeling...Great B ook!
Comment: Lauren Mills' illustrations are among the best in children's literature and they really make this beautiful story of a little girl coping with the addition of a new baby brother to her life. Her friends, the garden gnomes,convince her that this unpleasant little interloper must be a changeling. They hatch a plan to get the real baby back. The story is enchanting with lots of satisfying details for all lovers of the wee folk and the pictures of the gnomes in their quaint folk costumes are truly precious. Every page has lovely detailed flowers straight out of a cottage garden, camomile, love-in-a-mist, white poppies, larkspur, johnny-jump-ups and ferns. The flowers add to the magical atmosphere of the enchanted world that the little girl lives in. I love this book and it would make a good conversation starter for anybody who may be faced with getting a new baby...changeling or otherwise.

Comment: Amanda is sure that the new baby can not possibly be her real brother. He doesn't look a thing like her and he NEVER smiles. The gnomes tell her that he is a goblin baby;a changling. They come up with a plan to get her real baby brother back. The book is filled with wonderful gnomes in beautiful water-color paintings. This is classic Lauren Mills; doing what she does best,fairy folk.
