Summary: The Hardships of Immigrants
Comment: This book was a very good book in that it showed the life of the German-Russian immigrant in the United States very well. The children of the immigrants have a hard time growing up in America, because the parents still want to live in the past. They want to do things the way that they were in the old country. This makes life very difficult for the main character. She has a difficult time because she can't do what she wants with her life because her father expects her to stay home and take care of the family.
This book is a very good book with many details and symbols. Each section has its own meaning through its title, as each section is named for a different time of the harvest (of beats) season. I liked this book very well and would recommend it to others.
