Summary: Useful survey
Comment: Indispensible survey of Native North American Art. While the information contained within it is pretty basic, it looks like the quality of assemblage of objects for the exhibit was very high indeed. Objects are grouped by geography (i.e., 'The Southeast,') and each chapter works hard to include both women's and men's work.
The catalogue suffers a bit from the fact that only a handful of the works depicted could be published as color plates. (A unique velvet Florida Seminole man's Big Shirt that's still on display at the Mitchell Museum up in Evanston is one of the color plates.) Again, it's information is rather basic, but I still refer to this book on a daily basis.
