Summary: The Truth Will Set You Free
Comment: I found Dr. Dave Breese's book to be well written and very informative. It helps explain the mess that our current society now finds itself. Several others have reviewed this book negatively only because they have a very different Worldview than the biblical one. Dr. Breese does not have a problem with the Seven Men because they do not agree with him, but because of the fruit of their teaching. Jesus Christ taught us that "you will know them by their fruit". The fruit of the teachings from the 7 men is clear. The rejection of absolute right and wrong, or absolute truth is rejected by society. Existentialism lives; evolution is the lie of the day, but it is not because God is not Omnipotent, and we christians do not fear these philosophies as one reviewer stated. Several reviewers appear to have a problem with the Christian Worldview, not really with the book. Dr. Breese gives such great insight into the strongholds of the secular mind that have been controled by the philosophy of the day. Every true christian should read this book and be enlightened to the mindset of our day.

Summary: OK
Comment: This book introduces seven men who are having a tremendous impact on our society. This impact was done not by force, or by money, but through pursuasion. The author writes, "Any ruler, no mater how numerous his weapons or great his wealth, must finally rule by other means. He must rule by persuasion, the ultimate weapon though which influence on a culture is produced and sustained."

The author is an evangelical Christian, and his worldview obviously taints his interpretation of these seven men. Ultimately, he holds these men and their ideas against the Word of God. This contrast is helpful in seeing the problems in many of these individual's philosophy.

Of the seven individuals, Soren Keirkegaard was the most interesting. This book didn't give me a real good explanation of Soren, but it caused me to want to learn more.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a Christian viewpoint of some of the world's most influential philosophers. The book doesn't really go into any kind of depth on any of the men, but serves as a good introduction I suppose. If nothing else, the book is interesting and it stimulated interest in me to learn more about the subject.

Summary: The truth will indeed set you free
Comment: It's interesting that the first reviewer, who was extremely critical of Mr. Breese's use of scripture in this book, should use a Bible verse in his review! "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" can be found in John 8:32.
