Summary: Laughter Is Still The Best Medicine
Comment: Laura Jensen Walker has done it again with her latest book Mentalpause And Other Mid-life Laughs. She relates the humorous side of going through Menapause to all women going through or gone through this time in their life. While reading Mentalpause women will laugh and realize that we all go through it. Lots of humorous stories from other women will help us all to see yet again that laughter is the best medicine during life's trials and tribulations.

Summary: THANK YOU, LAURA JENSEN WALKER!
Comment: I laughed til I cried! Not only does Laura Jensen Walker relate to those women who experience menopause at the medically correct age, she also speaks to those of us who have gone thru it early in life. AND...she somehow manages to hit every avenue of it without embarassing herself or her readers! The only red face comes from the age old hot flash one may suffer thru while reading the book! There's no reason to suffer thru menopause anymore! Laura has taken that which we dreaded and made it...well, ALMOST fun! Thank you, Laura Jensen Walker for putting into words what my hot flashes have been trying to say for so long!"

Summary: Wait? I?m going through some of this already!
Comment: I'm in my mid thirties (I think I'm starting to forget my age already) and the other day I was so stressed about a situation I forgot my own address. My husband looked at me strangely and I started to cry. HELP.
After reading this book, I'm starting to wonder. Ok, so that was PMS (right?). According to Laura, PMS is a picnic in the park and you go from PMS to perimenopause. Oh, joys.
I think Laura could survive anything in life as long as she found a way to laugh about it. She has somehow found a way to turn every bad situation in life into a joyful celebration of wit. It is quite refreshing. This is my favorite book so far.
The author of this humorous book was only forty-two when she started having hot flashes. I want to ask her if tossing your covers off in the middle of the night is a sign, but then I remember my husband turns down the air conditioning on a regular basis. According to Laura, she is always turning the air conditioning on full blast when one hits.
I love where she says: "Over the years, I've subjected Michael to plenty of unhappy PMS parties as well. Beginning in our dating days. But since he proposed marriage to me during a particularly emotional PMS attack, I figure he knew what he was getting himself into."
She discusses the joys of hair growing on your face (PCOS can do that too, or so I heard ;) after forty, the fight against mother nature and explains the very scientific and exhaustive list of Middle-Age Terms. Her "How to Take Care of Your Over-Forty Self" sounds so comforting.
