Summary: Fascinating
Comment: This book should be very interesting to anyone who is serious about Bible study. The topic is specialized enough to keep the attention of those with expertise in Biblical scholarship, yet Pilch's writing is sufficiently jargon-free and accessible for dilettantes to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Summary: Nothing to do with Sikhism
Comment: Why is this book classified under Sikhism? It has increasingly become difficult to look for Sikh books due to the great number of non-Sikh books intentionally placed in this category.

Summary: Could have been better.
Comment: Pilch's book uses medical/anthropological models to explore healing in the NT. Chapter three, which contrasts modern medicine with that of the first century, is excellent. However, the book is poorly edited and includes a great deal of redundancy (could have been 50 pages shorter). Pilch's dim view of Jesus as healer is unimaginative and uninspiring.
