Summary: An Adult Education
Comment: "We tend to attract the people we think we deserve. This means that if you like yourself, you're in a better position to attract someone who respects you; conversely, if you don't like yourself, you're more likely to hitch up with someone who doesn't respect you either, because you unknowingly project a poor self-image. Love yourself, and others will follow your lead." ~Anne Hooper
Anne Hooper is a relationship counselor and sex therapist in the US and Britain. Through her series of books, she has explored all the basics of sex and more. This is the first book I've seen that explains the history of sex and tells how people make love in a variety of cultures. She has also included the latest theories about sexual attraction, information on advanced sexual positions, contraception and erotic massage.
The Contents Include:
Sexual Chemistry
How Sex Works
All About Foreplay
The Art of Good Sex
Sex Without Limits
Sex for Life
When Sex Goes Wrong
History of Sex
You will find information on a wide variety of human sexual behaviors, male and female attitudes to sex, sex role differences, sex over time, sex games, sex positions, fantasy sex, fetishes, common sex problems and the history of sex.
I was interested in finding out why people fall "in love" and how love progresses into a need for intimacy. It seems the love between lovers would mostly be "erotic," although you could have a more playful or affectionate relationship without the great passion of erotic love. It as also interesting to read that after two years you are mostly past the infatuation stage and then start forming an attachment. Does that mean love then becomes a decision?
I think some people would rather stay in the "Phenylethylamine" love drug stage. The stage where you feel delirious, euphoric and have a high libido. They say this feeling only lasts about six months, but I have a feeling that this can last a lot longer, depending on the relationship. If you eat enough chocolate, you can also feel "high and in love."
Or, you can just skip the whole relationship idea and buy some DL-Phenylalanine 500 mg for much less than the price of your emotional health. I mean, if you ask someone if they love you and they don't respond, maybe you could just pop a few of these and be blissfully happy. I mean, a person you love can almost become your "drug" supplier. I just bought two bottles after reading about this information. Now I'm curious as to how well these will work on unrequited love of any sort.
This book is really not just about sex, it is also about relationship issues and gives examples of ideal communication, why people can feel extremely insecure and gives you ideas so you can make up a list of what you really want from a relationship.
This book also answers the following questions:
What drives us to be sexual?
What are the physiological changes during arousal?
What is "Injaculation?"
What are the top four fantasy roles?
The best part of the book is the "sensual massage" section. When reading this, you might need to order some kama sutra massage oils or get some bubble bath for a Thai Soapsud Massage.
There is a lot more in this book than I can even mention in a review. Anne Hooper is frank, honest and presents sex in all its erotic bliss. She also looks at techniques, gives "Sex facts" throughout the book and the drawings and pictures don't leave any questions as to what you might want to try out tonight. Well, once you get this book in hand. If you were only buying "one" Anne Hooper sex book, this would be my highest recommendation. Although, her books are rather collectable and intrigue the mind.
