Summary: Beans four principles for running a Business
Comment: "Beans" is an inspirational book that embraces old fashioned principles so often overlooked in today's mini-staffed businesses. This book is an easy read that would serve any business well if it were to be used as a refresher course at staff meetings.

Good customer relations boosts sales and if more business owners and associates put "Beans" principles into practice, shopping would become a more pleasant experience.

Happy Shoppers spend money.

Summary: Packs a powerful punch
Comment: I manage the buying team for a major department store chain. Someone recommended I read this book and I am glad they did. I ultimately bought 35 copies for my staff and we read a chapter a week for three months or so and discussed each one at our Monday morning staff meetings. It's really a powerful and inspiring story. Because of this book my team decided to start spending one afternoon a week on the floor with customers, as they felt they had gotten too far away from the people who actually pay our salaries. If there's anyone out there who wants a new way to motivate your employees, this book is definitely it. And by the way, I walk three blocks out of my way every day to get my coffee at the real company that this book is based on. They make the best vanilla latte in Seattle.

Rating: 5
Summary: A deep, nutty aroma of captivating example
Comment: It's like a quick shot of espresso, giving you the quality that you need without taking up too much of your time. People like me, who feel bogged down by business writing but love following stories, will connect with the small coffee shop owner, learning along the way and appreciating the story. The principles are simple, well drawn with the owner facing issues and reinforcing his "enjoy your work and the customers will enjoy being there". Quick reading because of likable setting, company and characters.
