Summary: When Does the Excitement Start?
Comment: If you like court readings, then this book is for you. Half of the book takes place during the trial, and nothing shocking even comes out of that. The whole book was rather boring. I don't think the reader will be surprised by anything that was "uncovered" during the trial. But what do you expect--once the crime was discovered, the authorities knew where to catch up with their prime suspect and they went and got him. There was no suspense to this story whatosoever. Why is it that every time a murderous crime takes place, especially involving kin against kin, that their story needs to be told.
Another thing that doesn't have to do with the story: the cover states "16 pages of shocking photos!" Well, if you call high school graduation pictures, wedding pictures, and pictures of mom sitting on the couch shocking, you'll be thrilled.

Summary: It is not that bad....
Comment: and I am from SC! I had never heard of the case. I didn't find the book repetitive or dry at all, but being from the lowcountry I don't remember any newspaper articles about the case. I could not put the book down, I am always fascinated by murders in the family. I would recommend it to people who DON'T know anything about the case, because those people (like me) won't complain. It is very well written.

Summary: Shattering
Comment: I hadn't heard of this case, but the book moves right along at a good pace telling about this terrible murder. The author is very good at the details and at keeping the story moving. I read in in two nights because I really wanted to see what was going to happen next. Terribly sad for all concerned!
