Summary: Decent overall guide, but do not use to pass tests.
Comment: I am currently a CNE for Netware 3, I was needing to pass the Building Intranets test to upgrade my certification for Intranetware. This book gave a good overview, was easy to read and quick to learn from. The main problem with this book became painfully obvious after using CNE Quizzer 4.5 and failing a couple times that there is no way to pass this test using this book. The book lacked the fine details that Novell likes to test you on. I obtained my CNE certification in 9 1/2 weeks using mainly Novell course books. There is some irony in how I passed Building Intranets. After failing the test, I went to a book store to look up objectives that I missed. The irony is that I found a paperback study guide for intranetware published by the same company that published this book. This book was less expensive, more detailed had sections with questions, and a CD-Rom with a quizzer on it. In less than 15 minutes I found where I went wrong on the test and went back and kicked the test out with a 636 (passing score was 575). Although I did not buy this book, it looked like a good alternative to Novell books. From now on, I plan on using only Novell course material so I don't waste my time or money.

Summary: Buy, Beg or steal the Novell Courseware
Comment: I bought the book originally because the organization and language seemed straightforward. Luckily I purchased a copy of CNE Quizzer 4.5 from Certify.com to pretest since the accompanying CD-ROM proved worthless. It was after doing the pretests that I became painfully aware that the book fell short in three very important areas:1) Terminology-Novell exams are very specific and the book isn't. 2) Detail-There just isn't enough detail on Object or File System Rights. 3)Examples\Case Studies-Very few review questions and no real case studies.

When I identified the failings of the study guide, I found myself referring back to the Novell Press IntranetWare Administrator's Handbook By Kelley Lindberg to fill in the gaps. Although it's not a study-guide, it was more valuable than the Moncur\Chellis book and has a permanent place in my crash kit.

If it wasn't for the CyberPass pretest and Lindberg's book, I would have failed the CNA test. It's sad that there aren't any better guides on the market-so at this point I'm fronting the money for actual courseware.

Summary: If you want to pass, buy something else
Comment: Sybex would be the only book I would suggest if you are taking a Microsoft test, I used them to obtain my MCSE, however for Novell tests they just don't cover enough information to pass the test. This book is way to expensive and I would suggest buying the Novell Press books.
