Summary: A solid way to start learning HTML
Comment: I gave this book 4 stars only because an instruction book needs to fill all of my requirements to earn 5 stars. This book comes darn close.
The MaranGraphics instruction books for computer applications and education are generally superb for learning how to do something on a computer from scratch. This book will teach you how to program HTML and put up a very nice web site of your own.
My one gripe is that I would have liked to have worked on one project from the beginning, starting from blank page to finished web site, while seeing how each stage looks via the excellent graphics these books have. That was not the case. This book showed you the code, and what it's effect would be, but the pages were always different. Not something I could do and have it show just like in the book. Some of the other Maran Graphics books do just that.
Still, you won't go wrong if you pick this book to learn HTML. It is not the complete end all reference to HTML, but if you get that advanced you can buy one of those too.

Summary: Comic Book Style Gets The Job Done.
Comment: I was struggling trying to learn a WYSIWYG web page program when I came across this book. I could not put it down in the bookstore and took it home to help me get through my problem areas while developing a first time web page for my business. While all my questions weren't answered, I believe it helped me out with about 80 percent of my challenges (therefore a 4-star rating from me). In college a couple of decades ago, I struggled with BASIC, COBOL and SIMSCRIPT languages, so I have never been one for writing code. But coupled with a WYSIWYG program, going into the source code with information from this book truly did help. Probably the best primer for anyone with an interest in HTML. Well worth the price for me.

Summary: This book works! Small and colorful, you can't go wrong.
Comment: Pictures, pictures and more pictures. This book gives full color screen shots for every single step of making and uploading a web page (and a friendly little cartoon guide leads the discussion). Even the simple things, like changing the color of text on a web page, come with graphically pleasing pictures to show the way.
I used this book to create my web pages at TwoAgePress. If you are like me, you don't want to read a thick computer manual, you just want to know how to make a web page. Well, you need look no longer, this book is what you need if you want to make a painless leap into web page creation. No special training is required -- this book is for everyone!
