Summary: The DTS Bible.
Comment: We've purchased three of these after attending a DTS class for our developers and DBAs. It's a little rudamentary in some of the programming concepts but we bought it more for the DTS functionality end. I loved the case study and the error-handling section was extremely helpful.
The book introduces you well to DTS and then proceeds quickly into much more advanced topics. If you don't know programming, the VBScript chapter may be useful. There's a handy reference in the back also to the DTS object model.

Summary: Spectacular!
Comment: This book has many positives with few negatives. The topics covered are diverse and extremely relevant. The book starts out with am overview of DTS and its wizard. It then covers the designer, the DTS COM object model, and even the interface required to build your own tasks to include in DTS. An unexpected and added benefit was its delineation between SQL 2000 and SQL 7 DTS functionality. This book can be reliably used as a reference for both environments.
The only downside was the books length and the inclusion of extraneous material, such has how to load a data warehouse with DTS. However, as the chapters were well encapsulated, these areas could be skipped without missing core DTS information. It is still well worth the five stars.

Comment: I have used dts for a long time but only got to grips with the
dts deseigner recently. This is book is very good for the
dba who has never tried manipulating dts packages.
Good job by the authors.
