Summary: Way too broad to be helpful!
Comment: I'm not going to be as harsh as the first reviewer, but I do not recommend this book. Its basic problem is that it attempts to cover too much: basic how-to stuff, business strategy (where to sell, how much to charge), and all the legal stuff that goes with selling what you make for profit.
First of all, the how-to section was completely useless. The description of tools, materials, and methods was poorly written and incredibly incomplete. It covered only a few of the most basic techniques in each of the four or five styles of jewelry making (bead, polymer clay, fabric, etc.) My feelings were that most readers would only be interested in one of these techniques, and that beginners would not find the instructions sufficient to make much of anything at all. But really - if you're at the point where you're even thinking about making jewelry for profit then you know everything they say already.
The projects were tacky, poorly conceived, kind of bizarre, and virtually unillustrated.
The section on how to sell your stuff was moderately helpful but pretty much a let down - I expected many more specific suggestions rather than vague advise and trite, catch phrase encouragement about how this book will change my life.
I appreciated the section at the end for alerting me about legal procedures and regulations - I had no idea so much was involved. However, it turns out that so much is involved that I have to buy another book. The author never gave a complete treatment of any of the many issues and was constantly referring you to her other books on home business for the necessary information.
The resource list at the end seems pretty complete - at least now I know where to go to get all the information this book failed to provide.
My advice - don't try to buy a book that combines jewelry making with home business. Buy one of each.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
Comment: This book has almost nothing to do with making jewelry. The jewelry it shows you how to make (7 items you could supposedly sell) would really be ideal for an 8 year old. And, requires about the same skill level. It shows you how to string beads(duh), how to bend some wire for an earring loop, how to curl wire on a bead string so the beads are separated by curls of wire, then something about sewing a piece of cloth that was so far from jewelry making I didn't bother to read it. The last half of the book is about going into business (Hopefully not selling the crap this book shows you how to make!). I've just leafed through the book - I'm not going to waste my time reading it. Already wasted my money. Please, save yours!
