Summary: Zane can do better than this
Comment: I became a fan of Zane after reading The Sex Chronicles. I picked up this book because I did enjoy the short stories about APF. I was disappointed, however, because Zane did not develop any of the characters or the plot enough to carry an entire book about APF.
Even a slow, careful reader could read this book in under three hours. The main character, Mary Ann, is so boring, stereotypical, and one-dimensional. Sure, she's a closet freak, but we already knew that from the previous short stories where she introduced herself as Soror Ride Dick. I can't express how unbelieveably one-dimensional the plot and characters are.
Another major problem is that although Zane is known for her steamy, erotic sex scenes, there are virtually no sex scenes for the first half of the book. That would be acceptable if the plot was moving along, but it's not. When you do get to a sex scene it seems awkward and lacks detail. I don't know what Zane was thinking.
There is one tiny, pathetic plot twist at the end of the story, but it almost seems out of place in this boring book.
I gave this book 3 stars because I still like Zane and I know has done and will do better books. In all honesty, it deserves 2 stars. Don't let this be the first book you read by Zane, because you'll probably never read her again. Borrow this one from a friend, read it in the bookstore (I know it sounds ghetto, but this is a short book), or just ask someone to tell you what it's about.

With the title of this book, you're given an idea of the plot of the story and the secrets that lie within the closed doors of this prestigious sorority of women who are educated, articulate, beautiful and have no qualms when it comes to their sensuality and the complete fulfillment they expect and demand from those they let into their intimate world. The Sisters of APF are selective of their members and have chapters spread abroad with yearly gatherings and monthly escapades pulling their members from all walks of life; including college students who may need a little nudge in taking part of the female sexual revolution.
After staying home and attending a local college for her undergraduate degree, Mary Ann Ferguson is headed to Hartsdale Law School in Washington, D.C. She is leaving behind the chicken farm, her parents, eight siblings and her high school sweetheart, Clarence, on a journey to meet new people and further her desire to become a lawyer. Patricia Reynolds is the resident assistant at the dorm in which Mary Ann lives and though she thinks Mary Ann is a country bumpkin, she sees something else hidden beneath the surface and invites Mary Ann to join her for a meeting with her "investment club." Armed with upperclassmen knowledge and seniority, Patricia leads Mary Ann into the secret world of The Sisters of APF, their mission, and the tools necessary to lead her away from her timid, good girl demeanor into an experience that is more fitting...one in which she will not settle for just anything when it comes to sex.
As in most of her books, Zane has taken a bold look into the lives of women unafraid to express their sexual wants and desires. And, while I don't condone all of the activities of this book, I do applaud Zane on yet another story with an underlying theme of being true to yourself and not being a victim in any arena of your life; especially sexually. No, the sorority does not exist outside of the pages of THE SISTERS OF APF: THE INDOCTRINATION OF SOROR RIDE DICK, but it does help one to see that "if they could work hard every day, bring home the bacon, and raise a family then they deserve a little hellified sex in their lives." This is definitely a ride worth taking.

Summary: Go Sistah's
Comment: The 'sistahs' of this book take control of their sexuality in a big way. Their monthly 'freak nights' are elaborately set up feasts where their pleasure comes first. OK one of the main characters changes from being a shy inhibited farmgirl to a sexually free college woman in 1 semester. Hey it can happen. And this is a quick read so we don't have all day. There are hundreds, if not thousands of books out there where men do the same so there should be no complaints if the sistahs go for it. The dialog is real, fast paced, and funny too. I enjoyed and couldn't put it down.
