Summary: My review
Comment: This book is little more than a transcription of the series finale. Carey is a capable writer, unfortunately the script, on which this book is based, is weak source material. ENDGAME, the novel, doesn't really add to the story presented on television. The plot is as contrived as anything yet seen on VOYAGER, and the characters are as one-dimensional as their televised avatars. On the flip side, it is easy to read, and inoffensive. Lastly, this book was published as a trade paperback to offset reduced sales (since the novel was released so long after "Endgame" was televised, sales would be much lower than they would had the book appeared at the same time as the episode). It would have been a little more considerate if the publisher had, at least, included a photo insert.

Summary: Endgame Star Trek Voyager
Comment: In a word fascinating, a great adaptation on the script. We get more details of what's going on with the characters, something lacking with the time restraints of TV.

Tom Paris, his father and new born child and wife B'Elanna for instance. Janeway and Chakotay together. Capt. Janeway and Admiral Janeway, the Janeways vs. the Borg Queen and Tuvak with a disease.

Fighting the Borg and their Queen and out foxing the Borg yet again. Using technology from the future to give the Borg something to assimilate if they can. And yet another way home via the Borg all for good fast reading.

This book moves fast and is a good wrap up, but there is a hint of the final wrap up in "Homecoming" that is sure to answer the rest of the questions concerning the Voyager crew.

A very fast read with a few typos, but nonetheless very fascinating, enjoy it. Then we hope "Homecoming" will give us the final answers, but with all good Sci-fi, there never is and end.

Summary: Is it the End or the Beginning
Comment: First off, I will tell you that I am a big Star Trek Fan. I have seen every episode of TNG and DS9 and just about every episode of Voyager (with the exception of Endgame). I was out of the country when it came on and I have never caught it in syndication. Thus, Endgame was an important book for me. I purchased the Ebook from Amazon and read it in less than 1 day.

The book starts out 26 years from Voyager's being catapulted by the Caretaker from the Alpha Quadrant. "Admiral" Janeway sends herself back in time (with a little help from her friends) to their seventh year in the Delta Quadrant. After much debate as to whether or not Captain Janeway (the same person 20 years earlier) should take the admiral's recommended course of action, the admiral and the captain compromise suiting both personalities. Of course, the end is fairly easy to predict, although the journey is definitely interesting.

The detail was great. The explanation of the interpersonal relationships was very good. There should have been more borg interaction. The lack of borg participation makes it very unbelievable that it was that easy to defeat them in battle. I guess what I am saying is -- more action less drama would have been nice.

The ebook comes with a three (3) chapter preview of Homecoming. A nice bonus and ready to download the next book.

My only gripe with Endgame (and Star Trek in general) is time travel in the star trek universe is becoming a bit overused. It's a little too convenient - and becomes an all too easy way of overcoming problems.

Enjoy!
