Summary: Exceptional! Magickal! Wonderful!
Comment: This book goes into extensive detail about *specific Gods* of the Greek, Hindu & Egyptian pantheons; the Paths of which the author, Kala Trobe, holds much knowledge. I have found this to be extremely beneficial in my magickal practices and cultural research. It is essential next to Kala Trobe's other book "The Witch's Guide to Life", and right alongside her other book, "Invoke the Goddess." This book goes into great detail about these particular Gods and enlightens the reader into their true energy. It is brilliant and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in these particular Pantheons. Please see her other books on Amazon.com as well. Cheers Be to Kala Trobe!

Summary: good book once again
Comment: I would recommend this book for wiccan like myself the rituals baths and meditations (with less structure) and only a gods know how they react to the person . I would not turn to it as a prime resource for male aspect however for information. However, I was inspired to check out the author's bibliography to see where she got her background information. and suggest the witches god and goddess on working with deity . Just do the reseach on gods you are draw to and this book is nice for visualizations as all book they do have a opinion.Still nice book overall

Summary: Excellent book for Wiccans & others
Comment: At first, I just flicked through this book looking for my personality in the 'mundane archetypes', and found that though none of them suited me exactly, some were recognisable enough to make me laugh out loud (Siva - ''alternative', and proud of it, and he dresses (often scruffily) to make a point...drinks too much coffee during the day,' Krishna - 'pretty and effete...has Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet on his bookself') etc . Despite my disappointment at finding only aspects of myself scattered across the archetypes I decided to try the exercises for turning over a new leaf (Khephri) and divination powers (Thoth).
The author can be prop-heavy at times, for Thoth she instructs the reader to light 7 candles, which isn't necessary - it's intent that works the magic, not candles as any Wiccan/occultist knows. I used just one (red at that) as background, and found the technique of interacting with Thoth when I'd 'attuned' through the descriptive history was extremely effective. Khephri, Horus and Krishna have become favourites since reading and trying out this book. Anubis is also especially powerful.
I would recommend 'Invoke the Gods' to Wiccans (especially male) who find that most of what is available is goddess-orientated and who want to learn more about the gods. It's useful reference and seems to be well researched. Don't get distracted by the occasional call for props - this book honours the Gods without and within. The visualisations are intense and intelligent, and they work.
I also enjoyed the 'chatty' bits of the book, such as when the author tells us about being in Hyde Park at Speaker's Corner (Ra), etc. She shifts from historical fact to anecdote which makes it a better-rounded read. You can get a sense of her as a person along with the rest of the contents. This is not a necessity or to be expected, but it helps cross the gulf between author/'expert' & reader/'novice'.
I would certainly try more by Kala Trobe and have already ordered 'Magic of Qabalah' which I hope will be as helpful a read as 'Invoke the Gods'. I'm giving it 5 out of 5 because despite of the occasional over-emphasis on props it is a powerful book. I will be trying out the exercise on giving a speech at my sister's wedding later on this year --- :)
