Comment: The Incas
Ladybird history books are social history at it's best, from; I would estimate ages 8 to 14 for school use of simply to enjoy. They bring history alive for children, and are filled with fascinating information. As well as bringing alive an animated, exciting past, they also show how events of the past, are with us today, in so many fascinating ways.
The Incas, by Brenda Ralph Lewis, in the Great Civilizations, Ladybird series has heaps of information on these South American people and the civilization that they built, and maintained for centuries.
It tells of all the magnificent wonders built by this people, as well as drawing a picture of day-to-day Inca life.
It is accompanied by magnificent drawings by Jorge Nunez, and two photographs of Inca ruins in Peru.
It also tells the tale of the last Inca Emperor Ataphualpha, and the cruel conquest and destruction of the Inca Empire by Pizarro and the Spanish conquistadors, in their greed for gold, and deceit.
