Comment: O'Grada has here a fine work, a perfect introduction to the "rocky road" that was Irish politico/economic history - but for those in seach of more concrete economic analyisis will not be satisfied here. However, this is not to say that the read is not worth the time or effort, for indeed it is as O'Grada holds a firm normative approach to his analyisis - good for the student, teacher and inquisitive reader.
