Summary: Dragonsong written by Anne McCaffrey is an adventurous book.
Comment: Normally I like reading fiction, and this book was no exception. Dragonsong written by Anne McCaffrey was an adventurous book, with mishaps and adventures that kept my attention the whole time. One event that particularly got to me was when Menolly was running on a beach away from thread. At first she didn't even notice it, she was to busy collecting food for her cave, but suddenly she looked up and noticed a gray cloud in the sky. At first, the thread looked distant and unthreatening, but as she started to back away from it, she found it coming towards her faster and faster. She turned around and started out in a full out sprint, not bothering to save any breath. The dragons whizzed about her head; wishing to warn her of the danger looming behind her. She finally fell to the ground, giving into defeat. Expecting to feel the burn of thread she instead felt... Well, I don't want to give away the plot! You'll just have to read it for yourself. I think that if you enjoy sci-fi, then this book is great! But if you don't enjoy letting your imagination wander or try to hard to totally understand everything then you'll get lost in the book and it will become a total bore.

Summary: One of the better books in the Dragonriders of Pern series
Comment: I like this first novel about Menolly a lot...However, much of Dragonsinger won't make sense if the reader hasn't read Dragonsong first. The novel gets somewhat bogged down in the daily life of Menolly at half circle where she's very much unappreciated and at times punished for being a musical prodigy. The pace picks up when Menolly gets caught out of the hold at threadfall, and well, I guess I shouldn't comment further to avoid spoiling the plot.
This is another novel which could be fairly nice to finally see in movie form although this novel and Dragonsinger would probably need to be combined to make a feature length film.

Summary: Menoly's Tale is great
Comment: Menoly is a lot like me. But that is only one reason I absolutely love this book. Menoly is in a spot of disfavor with the people who reside in the hold by the sea. She learned the harpers'craft from the ailing harper. When the harper dies, Menoly is forbidden to sing or make songs. Just to make matters worse, her hand is injured while gutting fish. Then, the lonely girl runs away, teaches fire lizards to sing, and proves that you don't need to be a boy to make songs.
