Summary: Fabulously Written!
Comment: Before arriving to her Uncle Geoffrey's mansion, Judith Sparrow, a recently orphaned child, was strictly forbidden to not bring any object of the color green. Nevertheless, she couldn't resist leaving a possession of the color given to her by her late mother, and so, like any 15-year-old girl, she brings in along secretly. However, once she sets foot in her room, strange things starts to happen, especially during the night. Much to her concern, Judith learns that a suicide, of a young girl named Jade Green, had taken place at the mansion 3 years earlier. As she lives day by day in the mansion, Judith slowly reveals the truth that Jade Green was indeed murdered. The more she learns, however, the farther she has to hide from the murderer. In this magnificent ghost story, the suspension intensifies at every turn of the page, and things happen when you least expect them to.
This story is without a doubt one of the best I've read in awhile. Yet, I didn't like the way the author sort of revealed with the murderer was. I wouldn't want to give it all away, but from the beginning until the end, the reader could actual guess who the murderer is, more so because of the attitude of that particular character. Nonetheless, if this ghost story hadn't been so revealing, I'm positive that the books will be worth the reading.
Written in the point of view of the main character, Naylor has certainly written a terrific and detailed wording of what Judith's thinking. Because it was written like this, it can give the reader a more understanding of the character. Especially through all the twists and turns, I found the excitement reading between the lines terrifyingly great. Still, I thought that there could be an improvement in the way the murderer was revealed. Nevertheless, I found this book to be of great interest, and do recommend it for others who are interested.

Summary: A great ghost story!
Comment: Jade Green: A Ghost Story is another good book by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, and it's a great ghost story!
15 year old Judith's parents have both died, her mother in the madhouse, so she goes to live with her uncle. He said one strange thing, however - not to bring anything green. She can't part with a small, green silk frame that her mother gave her, however, so she takes it secretly.
Soon after Judith reaches her new home, strange things begin to happen - she hears of a girl, Jade Green, who died by her own hand in the same house, 3 years ago. Terrifying things begin to happen, and she doesn't know what to do!
A romance with the boy next door, a new job, and avoiding her threatening, grown cousin, complicates things further, and she wonders if things will ever be all right.
This was a great book, with an exciting plot, well developed characters, and things that were truly scary! I'd recommend this for ages 12 and up.

Summary: Jade Green "An Ole Miss Perspective"
Comment: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor has written a very interesting story in Jade Green. Set in the late 1800's this book gives a look into the past. The settings and characters are very vivid. Most of the storyline revolves around Judith's,the main characters, interaction with a family she has never met. The story, which is not a true ghost story, is more of a mystery. Judith becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to a former resident of her uncle's house. I found this book extremely entertaining. It is a very short, but enjoyable read. However, some of the interactions between Judith and her cousin, Charles are not for young readers. This book would be most appropriate for readers ages 11-14.
