Summary: Just What I Was Looking For!
Comment: My 2 1/2 year old daughter LOVES this book - it is exactly what I was looking for to help explain her new role in our family as a big sister. She is so excited about the birth of our baby and is eager to help. The book makes the big sister feel very special and points out all of the things that the big sister can do that babies can't (eating pizza, apples and ice cream, for instance!). We've had this book 3 weeks and every night my daughter has demanded we read it to her - now she has the whole book memorized and reads it to her dolls! I'm so glad I found this one!

Summary: great book for any family, especially adoptive families!
Comment: We bought this book for our two-year-old, who was adopted, when we decided to adopt a second child. Our daughter loves reading this book and understands how much fun it can be to be the big sister. I think it's actually helping her look forward to the big event! Since the book doesn't mention childbirth or show a pregnant mommy (I had to return a gift book my daughter recieved that showed a pregnant mommy and said "A mommy can have a baby inside her"), it's perfect for adoptive families. This book (and the boys' version) is the gift I always give new big siblings, whether their younger sibling is biological or adopted. In general, it's a great book and a great gift!

Summary: Good, even for young sister-to-be
Comment: Our daughter was 17-months-old when she became a big sister, and this book was the only one out there that helped her understand the concept of having a little sister.
It is written very simply, talking about what the little girl can do and how she is a big girl. It talks also about the baby and what the baby can do, what the baby needs, etc. It is very reassuring, I think, to the older child that they are still loved because they are special.
The drawings are very cute and appealing to my daughter - she loves to see the big sister and the baby, the dolls and bears, and the mommy and daddy.
I think it really helped her understand the concept and I would really recommend it for any age!
