Summary: First Impressions Do Last!
Comment: Sweet St. Louis was about Four Central Characters in the game of love and romance. Anthony(Ant) Poole, was a young and bored auto mechanic, who stumbled upon Sharron Francis, an ordinary girl from Memphis, Tennesee, who worked at an ordinary job at the St. Louis Interrnational Airport and Sharron was in search of a serious relationship with the right brother. Complimenting Sharron and Ant were their good friends Anthony who just couldn't grow up and Celena the over cynical, over protective, extremely negative roommate from hell. The book was filled with typical situations such as Ant getting with another young lady Diane for a "booty call" and Ant/Tony ending up on the wrong side of the law. The storyline/plot was not only slow and boring but was definitely predictable and one that someone who hadn't read the book could finish for you. Mr. Tyree tried to add depth by including secondary characters such as Sharrons's dad, Ant's mom, Ant's boss Paul, and one of Sharron's co-workers(a child with a whole bunch of drama going on). However, the four main characters were so stereotypical and there wasn't enough substance to the secondarey characters to balance the main characters. Maybe my expectations were too high; however, I found the main characters to be very immature and unlike anyone I know today or even knew 20 years ago. The story was over-written and probably 200 pages too long as the speech was repetitive and redundant. I wish I Had Something Different To Say and Something That Had Not Already been said however, Sweet St. Louis just left a sour taste for me. The only reason I felt compelled to finish reading Sweet St. Louis was because I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and I kept hoping that the book would get better. I had heard so many good things about Mr. Tyree's books and thought I would enjoy reading them since many had compared him to the likes of EL Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey and Mike Baisden. Unfortunately, Sweet St. Louis was void of substance and shallow. Mr. Tyree, I know that you are a well respected author, however, if you want to keep this reader coming back and perceiving your novels as page turners you will have to spend more time developing the storyline beyond the ghetto-mentality they seem to possess. I read fiction to escape not to be reminded of headline news. Sweet St. Louis appeared to lack effort to be interesting....maybe a little more time between books would help. However, since I have Single Mom, I will read that and give Mr. Tyree one more chance before I write him off because everyone deserves a second chance.

Summary: Reader from the Chi
Comment: I have to be totally honest. Of all the books of Omar Tyree this has to be the worse. I loved the others but this one is very slow and kind of narrative. It gets juicy in some parts then it's like dull. I would recommend it to a writer that wants to get some pointers of what not to write about. Why couldn't he just say STL instead of St. Louis International Airport? Things of that nature is what made this book a little dull.

Summary: When dissecting love, please thow away the spare parts.
Comment: When Anthony Poole started throwing his "playa" lines on Sharron Francis, little did he know that he would open a box filled with more than the physical could offer. SWEET ST. LOUIS put these two people together and gave the reader the blow-by-blow description of their obivious attraction to each other and what happens when curiousity of sex becomes commitment of love, especially when that option wasn't in the initial making. Of course, there are the foils that appear in every love story, and Anthony's cousin (who seems to worship Anthony to the point where he actually models his own life to mirror "Ant's"), and Sharron's roommate, Celina (who lives her life as the proverbial female playa-get what you can, then move on, even if you have to date two or three at a time) seems to fit the bill.. The main problem with this story is that while the cast of characters were beliveable, the relationship was marred with insistant thought checks and reasons why they made each and every move. It seems that the only thing these two did was try to second-guess the other, and I know that it's best to be careful and not get your heart caught up in something that could be nothing, but it also took away the feeling of chance and the thrill of the "maybe" that exist when dating. Still, an interesting read for anyone who feels love doesn't have to be a one-way street.
