Summary: Excellent!
Comment: This book is HIGHLY RECCOMENDED. Not only does it improve your tennis skills but it's easy to read to. Instead of giving boring instructions it feeds important mental tennis information in an easy-to-read way. It sounds like a boring topic (the mental game of tennis) but it's actually really interesting.
It gives great tips on how to stay calm during and before matches and it really improves your mental game, over all. Immediatley after reading it, I noticed improvement in my mental game, which also helped my physical game. The book is a must have for all serious tennis players!

Summary: A win is a win
Comment: This book helped me win a lot of matches, beating the guys that I wasn't supposed to beat! The underlying principle is that it doesn't matter how you HIT the ball, but how you PLAY the ball. This book won't tell you anything about how to improve your technique, but it'll sure help you understand what tennis is all about. I heard players saying that the book doesn't teach anything they didn't know before. This might be true, but it is amazing how many of those players simply fail to APPLY Gilbert's ideas. Hitting a soft return to a serve & volleyer is probably something "we already know", but Brad emphasizes that many players are brain-dead when it comes to the match. They don't think how to win points, they just try to smack the ball. Brad's main idea is exactly that: to think when you're on the court. In other words: analyze, recognize and capitalize. Some people might win by putting in use Brad's ideas and still think that it wasn't REAL tennis, or that it's not the way tennis is supposed to be played. Well, all I can do is ask: WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT? PLAYING BEAUTIFULLY OR WINNING A TENNIS MATCH? I'd rather win a tennis match.

Summary: Good strategy book for the advanced tennis player
Comment: This is a tennis strategy book. And a good one at that. But I believe the people who will benefit from it the
most are 4.0 players or above. The reason why I state this
is that this book does not go into stroke technique or fundamentals.
This book is for players who already have proven and dependable
strokes and are now in a position to start thinking about how to
use these strokes to win matches against good, competitive players.
But if you are 3.5 or below don't bother with this book. Get
books on improving your stroke technique and worry more about mastering the fundamentals of the game as opposed to formulating tennis strategies for different opponents. I mean in the book Brad states that he is amzazed at how club players who are 3.0-3.5 do not have the ability to "adapt" their game plan during matches. Well I think this is only part of the problem that 3.0-3.5 players have. The bulk of their problem is that their strokes are just NOT THAT GOOD!!!
I wish Brad would come out with a book which illustrates his ideas about mastering stroke techniques and fundamentals. Oh well I guess to get that you have to pay him $$$/hour for private lessons !!
