Summary: Mercy by Julie Garwood
Comment: Julie Garwood has done it again! Her title "Mercy" is just a continuation of her excellence. I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed every thing else I have read by her. I love her characters, and her plots. She gets you so involved in the story that you hate to put it down if you have to, and can easily read her straight through if time permits you to do so. This book has romance, humor, suspense, titillation, and closure. It makes sense from beginning to end and gives the reader total satisfaction from start to finish. I wait impatiently for what she offers next. To me, her books are just "GOOD READING."

Rating: 5
Summary: Good Follow Up
Comment: This book is a follow up to her last novel "Heartbreaker". In "Mercy" Garwood brings back Nick's brother, Theo Buchanan, who holds an esteem position with the U.S. Justice Department. He falls ill at a party, and literally falls into the arms of Dr. Michelle "Mike" Renard. It does have the feel of the Florence Nightengale syndrome. The book is fun. The characters are great. I hated to come to the end of this book. In this book they had a couple of stories going. They had conspiracy going on with a group of people that involved Dr. Mike. Theo comes to her rescue because he can't stop thinking about her. The book had suspense, romance, and drama. I hope that she continues to write about Mike's crazy brother and Theo's FBI friend in a future book.

Rating: 5
Summary: Terrific Romantic Suspense
Comment: Following in the footsteps of HEARTBREAKER, Ms. Garwood's previous novel of romance and suspense, MERCY pits Theo Buchanan against an unknown evil threatening the life of the beautiful Michelle.

Dr. Michelle Renard encounters Theo first at a party in New Orleans where she meets him and subsequently saves his life when she operates to remove his appendix. Michelle enchants Boston-based Justice Department attorney, Theo Buchanan, when he sees her after his surgery. After her father invites him to go fishing in Bowen, Louisiana, Theo travels there only to discover that Michelle's clinic has been ransacked.

Enter the subplot-members of the sinister Sowing Club, John, Dallas, Preston, and Cameron, friends forever who amassed a large fortune in shady investment deals. When they become involved in "mercy" killing, the four need to cover their tracks. Where are the documents that could destroy them?

In an intricate plot twist, Michelle becomes the target as the four are given reason to believe that she is the recipient of some documents that could be particularly damaging to them. Can Theo protect her as their two lives become inextricably combined?

Ms. Garwood has proven once-again that she has successfully made the crossover from historicals to romantic suspense. The motivation of the Sowing Club becomes increasingly evil as the members lose all notions of morality and will go to any lengths for greed. The scenes are fast-paced, the characters colorful and enigmatic as Michelle and Theo encounter the many dangers of the bayou. For a sure-fire winner, MERCY can't be beat.
