Summary: Dream Man--the dreamiest from Linda Howard
Comment: I can't tell you how many times I've read this book. It is not only on my keeper shelf, but is one of my favorit comfort reads. If you enjoy paranormal, suspense, and hunky cops, this books for you! Marlie Keen is a psychic who used to have incredible talent--but she hasn't been able to, or even wanted to, experience her talent in some time. It has actually been years, and she thinks she may have been "cured"--until she experiences a vision of a violent murder while driving home on the freeway. The murder is so clear and vivid to her she see no other choice but to go to the police--enter Dane, a sexy disgruntled homicide cop who dislikes her on sight, and then on principal. But he can't discount that she knows things only the killer or someone there could know...Linda leads through a thriller and a half here. And at times we even get to see into the head of the killer..talk about creepy. Dane is a Dream Man, and one of Linda's Alpha males she's known for, my favorite. This book is packed full of action and suspense, and you just don't know what's going to happen next...A Wonderful read!

Summary: DREAM MAN IS A DREAM OF A BOOK
Comment: This is by far Linda Howard's best novel. A real page turner - I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it and since then I've read it several times over again.
The plot is very clever and the main character's are compelling. Dane is most women's 'dream man' even though at first he isn't Marcie's! I loved this book because the plot line was brilliant, the sex scenes were steamy, it was exciting, romantic - everything a woman could want!
I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about reading a Linda Howard novel or for those who are already fans this one is a definite 'keeper'.

Summary: Breaking the reader's dream
Comment: Dream Man was the first book of Linda Howard's that I've read. I was mostly swept up in the drama. Marlie and Dane were likable characters and I'm a sucker for psychic and paranormal romances/mysteries. However . . .
My main complaints regarding this book arose as the climax unfolded and logic seemed to fly out the window. Once Marlie's participation in the police investigation was announced, any intelligence the book had or its powers to maintain "the reader's dream" dissolved. I couldn't believe that no one on the police force would have forced her to remain home from work. Why plant a decoy when the real live woman participated in routine activities? I couldn't believe that no one in the FBI or the Orlando Police Dept. had never heard of Carroll O'Connor and therefore would know that Carroll could be a man's name not to mention the fact that a computer would have brought up a comparative list that, for some reason, police officers were doing manually.
While the writing was good and the plot basically sound, I felt the ending just hadn't been thought through, as if it were simply good enough to have the hero and heroine together and the reader shouldn't expect more.
