Summary: Love, life, and the people that mean most to us.
Comment: That is what a Delinsky novel reminds me of. I have yet to read one that hasn't brought tears to my eyes. THREE WISHES is set in a small Vermont town where the inhabitants are like family. It is here that the author quckly pulls you into the lives of the characters that will soon step from the pages of this book right into your heart.

Bree Miller is the beloved daughter of the town, with no living family to speak of, and she is about to meet with a near fatal occurrence that will leave her with three wishes. Our story takes off from here with unsuspected twists and turns that brings happiness as well as sadness to all involved.

Written with a bit of mysticism and a what if sense to it, this book was quite enjoyable and sentimental in a Nicholas Sparks sort of way. Kelsana 6/9/02

Summary: What if wishes really could come true?
Comment: Barbara has exceptionally mastered fitting all of the multifaceted concepts of love into a single work. Love between a man and woman, family, community, and even life itself is presented in such an emotional and clever way you will find yourself drawn in completely to the story. The protagonist, Bree Miller, seizes the reader with her dreams as well as her sensibility and independence. She immediately pulls you in with her extreme modesty, besides being a solitary spirit abandoned by her own mother. After she awakens from the accident, it becomes too easy to instantly fall in love with her and cheer her on as her whole world changes from that of a rational and lonely waitress to fortunate heroine gifted with a new life and three wishes. Panama, Vermont changes from a cozy place of quiet solitude to your own extended family and friends and the love shared by Bree and Tom will make you see you own loved ones with new compassion. Warmth radiates from the pages making it impossible to set down. Add in a tear-jerking ending and you have an excellent read.

This is a book you can go back to a thousand times and feel the same elation and heartache.

Summary: A Good Story with a Sad Ending!
Comment: Barbara Delinsky is one of my favorite authors, I listened to the audiobook recording of her book Three Wishes which was read by Amy Brenneman who some reviewers may know as the actress who stars in the TV show Judging Amy and she was very good as the reader. The story is good but has a very sad ending which I have to admit upset me because I just wasn't expecting it and was hoping for the typical escapist romance book with a happy ending and though I didn't care for the ending I liked everything else about Three Wishes and I recommend it to fans of Barbara Delinsky, but be prepared for a very sad ending that might make you feel a little blue and maybe even cry! So you might want to have a hankerchief or a box of facial tissues close by.
