Summary: Christianity is exclusive
Comment: Orthodox Christianity has always been and always will be exclusive. People, including Hicks, should face this reality and either defend or attack Christianity from this standpoint. To say that it is possible to construct a "Christian" theology of pluralism is a contradiction and a foolish hope. Hicks, as always, fails miserably in this work. If one insists on pluralism, he should not consider himself a Christian, but should reject Christianity as false. If one claims to be a Christian, he must reject all other religions as false. Simple as that.

I would instead recommend books by Gordon Clark and Vincent Cheung. Search the web for "trinity foundation" and "vincent cheung", and I think you will find them. Cheung's books are free for download.

Summary: The circle of faiths around God
Comment: John Hick, a proponent of religious pluralism, has again come out with a book that tries to persuade its readers that Christianity is not *the* religion but is only one amongst many, all of which are pathways to the Transcendent Reality.

In this book Hick has taken a different tack toward this goal. Instead of being didactic and scholarly, he posits and replies to questions from two fictional characters Phil and Grace, corresponding to philosophers and theologians, and argues the issues of pluralism. The result is a lively and readable dialogue that tries to anticipate and answer many of the readers' questions.

As always Hick is a joy to read and his points are, needless to say, well-taken.
