Summary: Beautiful, Intelligent, and Inspiring
Comment: This is one of the best coffee table books I've ever read -- in fact, it's one of the only coffee table books that has enough text to actually read, and keep reading. The photos are all in beautiful color and natural lighting, and there seems to be more photos than are usually included in these books. In the front is an outstanding history section that puts ranch houses in historic and social perspective. Yet the heart of the book is about the joy of this type of house, and the original and sophisticated ways to renovate and style these houses and any other houses.

Summary: Excellent coffee table book
Comment: This book is on my coffee table and every time some one comes over they start flipping through it and then they start reading it and become so engrossed in it that my husband and I can barely get it out of their hands so we can socialize! This book is irresistible because it reads like a good book and at the same time its beautiful to look at. We've got it filled with post-its of pictures we like and want to do to our house, and just like we heard the author say on TV, the back is full of paint colors and resources that we plan to use a lot of. We've gotten so many ideas from this book for the inside and the outside of our house. It's fun to see which house our ranch house is most like, and its really fun to see so many different kinds of ranch houses and to hear the story on them from the owners. It's very personal, useful and beautiful. It's bargain for how much we use it and enjoy it.

Summary: Nice variety
Comment: I liked this because it shows that ranch houses don't have to all be decorated in "vintage 50's" style to be cool. There are some like that here, but there are others that are more old-fashioned elegant. This is a good source of realistic decorating ideas for anyone who lives in a ranch and wants to spruce things up.
