Summary: Beware -- baloney detector at work!
Comment: Carl Sagan has been here -- but Dr. W. Summer Davis has made debunking modern hocus bogus his own territory. He takes us on a journey through the bamboozlement of the mind -- Velikovsky, Bible Code, New Age theorists, Astrotherpists, PLR (I will let you find out what that one is), UFOlogy .. the list goes on. Relentlessly, Davis with clarity and elegance pin points the nonsense. There may be smoke and mirrors but here is the fire brigand and the baloney detector.
I read the book in a single sitting - actually a bed reading that lasted into the early hours - and I suspect you will too. No doubt its Amazon.com ranking will be dwarfed by books touting the latest pseudoscience fad -- but it is a big brick in the building of a world free of slavery to such gobbledygook. It has a good selected reading list.

Summary: one drawback..he went too easy on them
Comment: It was a delightfull read first of all. The likes of "The Pet Psychic" and "John Edwards" called to task. I loved it. However, my one complaint about this otherwise great book, was that the author had them down and squirming via obvious facts..but eased off. If this book ever goes into a 2nd edition, I hope the author will finish what he has started and "throttle 'em good."
refreshing, open and logical look at all the sillyness people still believe in. A must own, unless your locked into Dogmatics..in which case avoid this book and stay happy (and oblivious.)

Summary: Picks up where HERETICS left off
Comment: I loved HERETICS for it's history and the authors desire to make a point based on real history. However, he did not go into detail about a few things that I found very interesting (such as spiritualism, etc.). In this book he pickes up where he left off and debunks everything! With all the pseudoinformation on televission, and news, it is hard for a regular person to tell what is what. If you want to know the FACTS,,, then this book is for you.
