Summary: Fantastic Hands-on Approach to Learning!
Comment: I used many of the models in this book with my sixth graders this year, and they loved them. It is a great way for students to remember concepts that otherwise can be a little "dry". The models use simple materials and do not take a great deal of preparation. Although this book is targeted toward 3rd-6th graders, many of the activities can effectively be integrated for use in the higher grades. I will be using several of them for 8th graders this year.

Summary: This book IS amazing!
Comment: Topics for the models are volcanoes, rocks and fossils, weathering and erosion, water, earthquakes, and plate techtonics. Included in the book are patterns and detailed instructions for making each of the model activities described in the book. There are also illustrations to show how the finished product should look. Extention activities are also included. The models and extention activities are a great way to present the various concepts in a visual way that is more meaningful than reading about the concepts in a book. While the book claims to be geared towards grades 3-6, I believe that it can even be used in high school. My students really enjoy making the models, and they say that they learn a lot more from them.
