Summary: Street Magic
Comment: This book about Briar Moss (Plant Mage from Circle of Magic series) and the problems he runs into while he is in Chammur and this time the girls aren't there to help him! He deals w/ gangs, subborn stone mages, cats, and a girl who he finds that has stone magic. One top of it all he has to teach her. I love this book! Briar is one of my favorite characters and this book is all about him. Who wouldn't love it?
Rating: 4
Summary: Another winner
Comment: STREET MAGIC, the second book of Pierce's The Circle Opens quartet, is a story which ought to satisfy all of her fans and leave them asking for more. Still far from being one of Tamora Pierce's best books, STREET MAGIC continues her trend of bringing the books in The Circle Opens quartet to a more mature level.
Briar Moss and his teacher Rosethorn have traveled to the city of Chammur, where they are employed to revive the plants dying in the "tired" earth. It is while he is visiting one of the open Bazarrs there that Briar comes across Evvy, a young street-rat who in unknowingly in possession of stone magic. As with Sandry in MAGIC STEPS, Briar suddenly finds himself responsible for Evvy when the only other stone mage in the city flatly refuses to teach Evvy, or at least to do so in an acceptable manner. On the side, Briar must deal with the escalation of a multi-gang war going on throughout the city.
As I said, this is far from being one of the best books by Tamora Pierce, but I found it to be not half-bad. I like how she is bringing more dimensions to the lives of the four Winding Circle Mages, and making her stories more complex, mature, and different.

Summary: Briar, Sandry, Triss, and Daja - again.
Comment: It's been a few years since these four mages met and learned their magic together. They have all left Winding Circle, and gone with their mentors.
Briar and Rosethorn are travelling the world! Ok, maybe not entirely, but that's ok. This story takes place mostly in a single city. A nice city - but like all cities, it has its ups and downs.
Thieves, a stone mage girl, and plots that need foiling.
Briar has to earn the trust of the girl, then help her learn her magic - after teaching her to read and write.
But he's not the only one who's trying to befriend the girl - though the others have other, not so pleasant, ways of making 'friends'.
