Summary: Fast, Frightening and Fun to Read
Comment: Cassie Neill has a unique psychic ability. She can enter the mind of a serial killer, before, during and after their horrid crimes. But she blows a case and a child dies. She's haunted and has to escape the terror and trauma this power brings to her. She moves three thousand miles away, settling in her aunt's home in Ryan's Bluff, North Carolina. But alas, serial killers are everywhere it seems and Cassie tunes right into one in this small town. Of course, the authorities doubt her, but dead bodies start popping up. The good guys have to take notice, but the bad guy does too. Can she stop him in time?
This is also the book where we meet the intriguing Noah Bishop, though we don't see him till the later part of the novel, we will be seeing much more of him in "Hiding in the Shadows" and still more in "Out of the Shadows."
This, like Hooper's next two "Shadow" books is a five star offering, and if you haven't read them yet, you are in for a treat, as you can get all three in paperback read them back to back, then wonder where your weekend went.

Summary: Absolutely wonderful.
Comment: Psychic Cassie Neill's hard won peace in Ryan's Bluff, North Carolina, was shattered when she accidently connected with a local murderer before his first killing. District Attorney Ben Ryan knew Cassie could help find the multiple murderer, but at what cost to Cassie?
Hooper has a wonderful talent in portraying paranormal talents and activities (see any of her old LOVESWEPT books). Her logic and careful restrictions are understandable. The chemistry between Cassie and Ben is there, but their relationship was developed slowly and correctly. Hooper is one of the few former LOVESWEPT authors who have kept me eagerly looking forward to her next book. As much as I loved Matt and Ben, the two main men in the book, I found FBI agent Bishop intriguing. His story will be concluded in the third book of this trilogy, OUT OF THE SHADOWS. I can't wait!

Summary: Good Story
Comment: I really enjoyed the initial premise of this story. I tend to like serial killer stories and I also like stories concerning psychics. I thought this one was quite effective starting out, but started to fall apart and become unbelievable near the end. Still, I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the story line, and I would recommend.
Cassie is a psychic who left her home and moved to a small town to escape her old life. She was a very good psychic helping the police solve cases. In one instance though the killer knew Cassie was in his mind, and fouled an attempt for the police to locate him. At the same time this enabled him to kill a child. This event pushed Cassie over the edge and she shies away from all psychic activity. Of course a killing occurs in her home town and Cassie knows the killer is near. She has no choice but to go to the local police dept and obtain the help of a detective there, Ben. Ben and Cassie have to work together to catch the killer and deal with their growing attraction to one another. Predicable story, but likeable characters. Like I said the only flaw in the story to me was the ending - it did not seem believable to me.
