Summary: Whoah. Cool. Wow.
Comment: The book "Planet of Twilight" is one of the best books in the Star Wars series (At least that's what I think...). In her own wonderful style Barbara Hambly manages once again to create a very deep and involved, if somewhat hard to understand, story involving all of the characters in the hit movies. One thing I especially like about this book is that it deeply involves the entire Star Wars universe; it's not just an action story that simply happens to take place in the Star Wars universe like so many others. The technology, the worlds, and the chracters of the universe of Star Wars are all almost exactly as they were in the movies. This is a very hard task to accomplish. There are some problems with this book, however. Hambly's writing is sometimes unclear about some of the key details. I found myself skipping back a ways to try and figure out what the heck she was talking about. Also, if you don't know anything about Star Wars, don't even ATTEMPT this book. You would be lost like THAT. Watch the movies first and, just for good measure, read a few books that take place before this one. All in all, "Planet of Twilight is a wonderful book and is sure to please almost anyone, especially people who are into Star Wars. What the heck are you waiting for?! Go get it!!!!

Summary: Creative and refreshing. . .
Comment: I have to give Barbara Hambly credit. 'Planet of Twilight' delves into uncharted territory in the Star Wars universe. She tackles Leia's fear of her father's legacy and her struggle to become a Jedi along with Luke's inner turmoil over his love for Callista. So many other Star Wars novels give you the same old action/adventure plot line that many times I want to put the book down. (If I read one more Star Wars book about a "superweapon" or how some threat tries to capture Leia's children, I'm going to scream).
Hambly explores new ground in the Star Wars universe. She creates the frightening creatures called Drochs and the mysterious Dzym. Granted I didn't believe Dzym could take over the galaxy for a minute, but I did believe Leia and Luke were in grave danger. Hambly's best sections are the Luke and Leia parts. She seems unsure as to how to make Han, Lando, R2D2, and C3PO fit into her novel. Yet I overlooked this because I was thrilled to read an atypical Star Wars book.
When your looking for a book to read, treat yourself on this one. You'll be pleasantly surprised

Summary: Better than the First
Comment: This book is the finale of the Callista trilogy. Although it still isn't up to the calliber of other books in the Star Wars saga, it still is better than Hambly's first effort, Children of the Jedi. I give you three reasons. 1) There is more action in this story and you actually get to see a lightsaber duel. 2) The villains in this story are actually pretty cool. 3) The characters are better affiliated with the story. All in all, a good sci-fi read, but still not up with Zahn, Stackpole, and Allston in terms of Star Wars novels.
