Summary: Don't read if you haven't read this book.
Comment: I read this book having not read the first. If you haven't read Free-falling, don't panic. The author did a good job and what was going on.
Darian's use of big words made me think he was reciting Shakespeare or something. After awhile it got annoying and was overdone. Made me think more than once if I was reading a book based in the old west or about some royalty back in the 1600's. Emily was immature and the humor was a little dry. Darian and Emily fell in love way to quickly. But I guess that's romances for you.
One question I have is about the evidence against Davis. If Bonner and Clyde knew that getting Darian off the hook was in the bank all along, why didn't they say so before Darian was arrested? If they would've done it a long time ago then Darian's name would've been cleared. But hey. It's a book. You got to have drama. Well, especially a romance book.
The author should've read a few western books. The setting did not have the western characteristics. Including some of the characters. The townspeople fear Darian and his gang? Huh! What's to fear? If you want to read about real outlaws then read a western. Yeah they were considered outlaws. But dangerous? Where people run in fear because Darian showed up in their town? Please.
The part from where Darian is betrayed to the time he reunites with Emily was very well done. I could not put the book down!
The ending was a little farfetched. And I'm not so sure I even understand it now. I'm not sure I even care.
Would I read another book by this author? Probably. As long it doesn't have to deal with a western type setting.

Summary: Wow!!!!! Brilliant Darian is to die for.
Comment: After reading Free Falling I couldn't wait to lay my hands on this sequel to it & I wasn't disapointed. It is brilliant. Darian is to die for. My one disapointment is as far as I can tell there will be no other books in this series. I just didn't want it to end. Please Stobie write some more.

Summary: Old West Time Travel
Comment: If you like to read about the old West, and don't mind not getting much in the way of living day-to-day details, this one is for you.
The "mechanics" of the time-travel is a mysterious whirlwind Emily jumps into out of a plane. She volunteers for this after overhearing a man and his wife talk about a civil war officer they "know" who ends up hanged. Emily is intrigued by their conversation, and finds out they aren't crazy-they really do know this man who lived over 100 years ago. So, she accepts their challenge to go back in time to stop his hanging.
When she arrives, the state of her attire is cause for some interesting reactions from the men she runs into, but I found it hard to believe the people weren't more scandalized by her T-shirt and shorts!
Emily is portrayed as slightly ditsy in the beginning-but with an attitude. Later, she develops into a more thoughtful woman as she is faced with the challenge of how to save Darian from hanging. Darian is portrayed as a blushing, yet take-charge guy that likes to speak well. I never got the warm fuzzies over his physical description, although he gets points in the bedroom from Emily.
I especially liked the ending. Throughout the book, you get the feeling that Darian is a pre-incarnate of Emily's first husband. You're never quite sure until the end, though. Makes an interesting plot twist.
I liked the book, and don't regret buying it; but is it just me, or was there a pre-quel that developed characters introduced early in the story?
