Summary: TOTALLY AWESOME! WONDERFUL!
Comment: ONCE A PIRATE was such a refreshing change from the run of the mill time travel books! Susan Grant was able to transport me into the story and make me believe I was actually on the ship with Carly and Andrew. This was a light-hearted romp through time, and I enjoyed the concept of a woman fighter pilot ending up on a Pirate ship - completely out of her element, yet able to cope. Ms. Grant has a way of writing that made me smell the salty sea air and feel the salt spray on my face - and feel Carly and Andrew's emotions. The ending was such a complete surprise that it left me shaking my head in wonderment. As an author, she is a combination of Deb Stover and Sandra Hill, but has her own unique way of telling a story. I can hardly wait to read other books by her. She should go far.

Summary: A FABULOUS READ
Comment: I found this TT to be absolutely delightful! Not only was thisromance satisfying, but it was extremely well-written andwell-crafted. (I'd been put off by poorly written time travels in the past.) For this reason, Grant has joined my small list of "must-buys." The characters were vivid, and elicited the exact emotion I'm sure the author intended: love, hate, tenderness, compassion, and revenge.
Sadly, I almost didn't buy this book, based on June's review below. June, you were not misled. Whether you enjoy a book or not is a matter of taste. If you were expecting 400 pages of bickering crowned by the Big Misunderstanding (judging by your five-star reviews), I can see why you were disappointed. This is a grown-up romance, you see, a wonderful surprise from an author I'd never heard of, but whom I'm certain will make a wonderful name for herself in the future. Her next book looks equally intriguing. I shall look forward to it.

Summary: A love that reaches across time...
Comment: When Carly Callahan's jet crashes into the sea she hopes to be rescued, but not by 19th century pirates! Andrew Spencer believes that he has snatched his stolen cargo, Lady Amanda, from the sea as the very ship carrying her sinks to the ocean floor. When she states that she is not Lady Amanda, that her name is really Carly and she is from the future, he believes her to be daft. Once A Pirate offers a nice blend of adventure, romance, and has the hero and heroine not only battling some nasty villains, but time itself. Recommended.
