Summary: Validated my feelings and gave me hope
Comment: As someone currently going through PPD, I found this book very comforting and helpful. OK, so Marie's an entertainer, not a writer--big deal. I applaud her for having the courage to "air (some of) her dirty laundry" in order to help other women who experience this horrible condition. I was extremely impressed by Dr. Judith Moore's section of the book and plan to try her recommendations. As someone else said, Dr. Moore's section alone is worth the price of the book. However, it is Marie who introduces us to Dr. Moore in the first place and Marie's "image" that's selling the book to many people, so Marie's contribution can't be discounted.

Summary: I Wish I Had This Information When I Experience PPD
Comment: I highly recommend this book for any woman who is even thinking of having children, and especially women who think they may be experiencing PPD. When I experienced PPD after having my first child, I, like Marie, had no idea what was happening to me. About half way through the book, I started thinking that the book was sounding whiney, but by the time I got to the part where Marie finally made the decision to take care of herself, I just about stood up and cheered! I now think it's necessary to understand how her busy lifestyle and background contributed to her PPD, and why she reacted the way she did, and didn't get help sooner.

This book could be a real godsend to a woman who is experiencing PPD, and isn't sure what it is or where to get help for it. I really wish I had the information this book contains when I had PPD, but thank God other women will.

Marie...thank you for having the courage to not only get help and take care of yourself, but to then take the time to write a book that would benefit many. Because you have spoken up publicly, many women will not have to suffer in silence with PPD. I cried as I read most of this book, as it was like reading my own story in many ways. You have only become more beautiful as you've become more real, Marie. May God continue to draw you closer to His heart, and bring more healing in your life for His glory.

Summary: A Man's Point of View
Comment: First, as a fan, I willingly disclose that I purchased the book because it was about Marie. I did not realize that it would have such an impact.

I discovered that some of the PPD symptoms were similar to severe PMS symptoms my wife had been suffering from for 20 years. Because of the treatment options suggested by Dr. Moore I was able to make an appointment for my wife, and thanks to the treatment and supplements, the physical symptoms all but vanished.

I am now divorced, and on a recent re-read of the book, I was surprised to find myself relating to Marie's feelings of guilt and loss of self-esteem connected with her PPD. The poem at the end of her section of the book has had a profound effect on me as I work to deal with the effects of my divorce.

This book will always have a prominent place on my shelf. Thank you Marie and Dr. Judith.
